Laura, in her late 30s and single since her long-standing relationship with Doug broke up after he told her he didn't want children, finds herself back in his family's life after a chance visit to his parents, she sees them in crisis and in need of her help. Doug (now married with children) and his brother, serial dater Mick, are struggling to cope, their father Peter has terminal cancer, their mother Cat has just broken her leg and Doug's snooty French wife Camille has just gone into early labour. Laura is called upon by Mick to help mind Doug's kids, tend to Cat and Peter, and mind Cat's bookshop. When Laura and Mick develop an intense attraction, Laura doesn't know what to do: will everyone judge her for falling for her ex-partner's brothers?
